After nearly three years of virtual advocacy, we’re just a couple days away from our first in-person Leadership Summit since 2020! The United to Beat Malaria’s 2023 Leadership Summit kicks off Sunday in Washington DC and culminates Tuesday with our annual Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill.
2023 SUMMIT PREVIEW
This year’s Summit program includes an array of important and inspiring voices in the global malaria community. We’re thrilled to have three keynote speakers who represent African, US, and UN youth leadership:
Dr. David Walton, U.S. Global Malaria Coordinator
Joy Phumaphi, Executive Secretary of the African Leaders Malaria Alliance
Himaja Nagireddy, UNA-USA Youth Observer to the United Nations
In addition, our program sessions will explore some of the existential questions, innovative solutions, and key partnerships in the malaria fight. We’ll examine the important role that health workers, and women in particular, play on the malaria frontlines. We’ll look at this disease through the lens of conflict, climate change, and displacement. And we’ll sprinkle in some interactive moments along the way.
NOT ATTENDING THIS YEAR’ SUMMIT? YOU CAN STILL TAKE ACTION!
This year, due to capacity limitations, we only have space to host 100 champions. The deadline to apply for a Summit spot has passed; and we’re thrilled to have received 220 applications from 40 states!
If you weren’t able to apply or were not selected, you can still take action during and beyond our Summit. Check out our Summit toolkit and sign our petition urging your members of Congress to support vital US leadership in the fight against malaria.
