Mosquito Joe, our featured partner, is on a mission to help make your summer itch-free. In 2017, the outdoor pest-control brand took an even stronger stance against mosquitoes, teaming up with Nothing But Nets to raise funds and awareness for the fight against malaria.
In just over a year, the Virginia-based company and its 145+ independently-owned franchises have raised close to $50,000 in donations for Nothing But Nets! These funds have sent over 5,000 bed nets to malaria-endemic regions in Africa, South America, and the Caribbean; protecting over 10,000 people from the disease.
Mosquito Joe drives its fundraising and awareness-raising efforts through two separate campaigns. The ‘MoJo Bites Back’ campaign begins in May and invites customers to donate to Nothing But Nets, with a dollar-for-dollar company match included as an incentive during their annual launch.
Then, during Mosquito Control Awareness Week (June 24-30), Mosquito Joe franchisees compete against one another in the ‘Beat the Bloodsuckers’ campaign. Franchisees bring attention to mosquito control through local PR and grassroots efforts, and then donate $10 for a life-saving bed net on behalf of every new customer serviced during that week.
This year’s Beat the Bloodsuckers campaign raised an incredible $15,000, with 70 fundraisers taking place across the country.
To the thousands of Mosquito Joe owners, employees and customers who have joined the global movement to fight and end malaria, thank you!
