What is malaria?

Nearly every minute, a child dies from malaria, a disease caused by a single mosquito bite. Malaria is preventable and treatable thanks to cost-effective tools such as insecticide treated bed nets and life-saving treatment. Half of the world’s population is at risk of contracting malaria, and refugees, pregnant women, and children are most vulnerable to this disease.

How can we beat malaria?

Bed nets are a simple, cost-effective solution to keep families safe from malaria-carrying mosquitoes. Combined with household spraying, malaria testing and treatment, and vaccines in development, we are making progress in the fight to beat malaria for good.

Who's most at risk?

Our malaria projects continue to prioritize young children and mothers, pregnant women, refugees and internally-displaced persons, hard-to-reach communities with little to no healthcare access, and frontline health workers who fight malaria in these communities.

Make an Impact for Refugee Children This World Refugee Day

World Refugee Day (6/20/2024) celebrates and honors refugees around the world. United to Beat Malaria is dedicated to prioritizing families with young children, pregnant women, displaced populations, and frontline health workers who fight malaria in these communities.

In 2024, your World Refugee Day donation will help support our Healthy Start for Refugee Children initiative.  With nearly 47 million forcibly displaced children globally, refugee children are among the most marginalized and at-risk people in the world. Forced to flee their homes due to conflict, persecution, or natural disasters, they often find themselves in overcrowded refugee camps or unfamilar enviornments with limited access to basic necessities, including healthcare. This puts them at risk of preventable diseases, malnutrition, and even death.

Your donation today will help deliver essential health services to one million refugee and displaced children living in East Africa. Together, we will ensure refugee children in East Africa receive the care and support they need to thrive.
