Last week, the House Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations continued its consideration of Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 funding. The bill provided strong funding for malaria programs, namely the President’s Malaria Initiative and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.
Nothing But Nets is encouraged by this jumping off point for further considerations with the Senate. Significantly, the bill included over $10 billion for international COVID-19 response, recognizing the impact of the pandemic internationally – including on diseases like malaria. Further consideration of FY21 appropriations is expected to take place later this year.
Nothing But Nets would like to thank Chairwoman Nita Lowey for her commitment to international development and education throughout her tenure in Congress. Further, Nothing But Nets thanks YOU, our champions and advocates, for meeting with your Members of Congress and continuing the drumbeat of support for bilateral and multilateral programs working to end malaria!
