Introducing the 2014-2015 UN Foundation Malaria Fellows

The Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (RAC) and Nothing But Nets have kicked off the 2014-2015 Malaria Fellowship for undergraduate students. For the second year in a row, qualified candidates from around the country submitted their applications to participate in this fun, and educational fellowship and we are happy to announce that we have narrowed it down to 10 outstanding students!

Throughout the year, the 10 fellows will create opportunities on their campuses to increase awareness of the devastating effects of malaria and empower their fellow students to join them to act in support of anti-malaria programs. Fellows will organize events and fundraise to help raise awareness and send insecticide-treated mosquito nets to sub-Saharan Africa. Fellows will also have a chance to advocate to their members of Congress about the importance of strong U.S. leadership and funding for malaria programs such as the President’s Malaria Initiative and the Global Fund.

The fellows will travel in mid-November to Washington, D.C. to attend an exciting and packed 2-day training so that they can return to their campuses with the tools needed to begin their campus engagement. Throughout the fellowship, Nothing But Nets and RAC staff will provide training and ongoing support to ensure the students achieve their year-long goals. 

So who are these talented students who have committed their year ahead to make a difference by sending nets and saving lives?  They range from freshmen to seniors, from California to New York, returning and first-year fellows, and all are committed to the fight against malaria.
