Final Preparations

Tomorrow families across Côte d’Ivoire will begin to participate in the national integrated health campaign. Children under the age of five will receive measles vaccines, Vitamin A supplements, de-worming medicine, and a life-saving bed net to prevent malaria.

Singing in the Rain in Cote d’Ivoire

A man stopped me on the road today and asked me a very simple question, “C’est gratuit?” Is it free? He was referring to the children’s health campaign that was taking place behind us at the market in the center of Monga, Côte d’Ivoire, a small village over an hour from Abidjan.

Getting Advanced

The small village of Mondoukou is roughly 10-15km outside of Grand Bassam, a bustling town that was actually at one point the colonial capital of Côte d’Ivoire. Buildings erected in the 19th century still stand in Grand Bassam, long abandoned by the French colonists on account of, none other than, malaria.
