In just over a year, Mosquito Joe and its 145+ independently-owned franchises have raised close to $50,000 in donations for Nothing But Nets! These funds have sent over 5,000 bed nets to malaria-endemic regions in Africa, South America, and the Caribbean; protecting over 10,000 people from the disease. Mosquito Joe drives its fundraising and awareness-raising efforts through two separate campaigns, MoJo Bites Back and Beat the Bloodsuckers.

Last month, I attended my first Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill with the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA), and I’m not going to lie, I was nervous. Many of my peers and colleagues had told me stories about getting lost in the halls of Congress and the treacherous walks across the hill in the scorching sun. But despite my fears, the day was a complete success, and once it was over I could not stop smiling. Here’s why.

LONDON — On Wednesday government leaders, the private sector and NGOs will announce new commitments in the fight against malaria and call on the 53 Commonwealth nations to halve the number of malaria cases worldwide in the next five years. If achieved, this would prevent 350 million cases of malaria and save 650,000 lives, according to estimates by the World Health Organization.
