Texarkana kids are helping African kids at Children’s Beginnings day care, attached to Skate America, where they are raising money by selling lemonade to buy mosquito nets to protect against malaria.

It’s incredible. Just four weeks ago I was with the United Nations Foundation and Luol Deng of the Chicago Bulls making an emergency appeal for nets to cover more than 200,000 refugees in Chad. Without insecticide-treated nets, it was estimated that 25% of these refugees would die from malaria.

Here in the U.S. we’re fortunate—mosquitoes are just annoying. In Africa, mosquitoes kill, but $10 can save a life. This message will soon be hitting the airwaves as Nothing But Nets teams up with VH1 to create a public service announcement (PSA) to spread the word about how easy it is to send nets and save lives.
